A single toad can eat about 110 beetles, ants, June bugs, grass-hoppers, slugs, moths, sowbugs, armyworms and other bugs every day. (around 3,300 a month!)
Because they are primarily active at night, they need a cool, moist, dark place to hang out during the day.
